In Indonesia after studying six years at Primary School (SD) and then three years at Junior Secondary School (SLTP) students enter Senior Secondary School (Sekolah Menengah). There are many different types of Senior Secondary Schools including; Public, Vocational, and Religious. ( Ref. Indonesian Education System. )

This Homepage contains information for all Senior Secondary Schools (SMU - SMA - SMK - STM - MAN) in Indonesia so that students, teachers, principals, and other interested parties that have access to the Internet can communicate and share their knowledge.

The following are some of the characteristics that have been identified as common in those Indonesian Senior Secondary Schools that are successfully implementing change and self-development. These characteristics are also consistent with studies conducted in other countries throughout the world.

Shared-decision making: in general all stakeholders experienced more decision-making responsibility.

Addressing Teacher Needs: the interest and ability of the school to address their concerns provided teachers with a higher level of motivation.

Addressing Student Needs: schools that concern themselves with the specific needs of their students received greater acceptance and support from their students, parents, and the community generally.

Integration of the School into Community: schools played an important social role in the community (Community includes parents and local general community).

More Open Communication: in general communication amongst all stakeholders has been increased significantly.
